Deconstructing the Definition of Freedom Fighter is an intergenerational conversation, between the historical figures of liberation and the contemporary custodians of freedom, on the multiple roles that women occupied in the conflict and equality in times of reconstruction.
The aim of this event is to shift the collective attitudes on the contribution of women in the fight against Apartheid and the building of a new nation. As a patriarchal society, in traditional and culture, more South Africans need to understand that women were not merely personal assistants to the men we revere.
The panel comprised of Ms. Baleka Mbete, Dr. Beverley Ditsie, Adv Kagiso Maphalle, and Ms. Khanyi Chaba. Facilitated by Lesedi Oluko Moche.
Duma Collective was brought on to provide the foundation with Event Consultancy and Social Media & Influencer services. The team was tasked with managing the Oliver & Adelaide Tambo Foundation’s social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram leading up to and during the panel discussion and helping with event setup.
